How to manage the incidental finding is always a challenge in medicine. Should the finding be ignored or does the matter need to be pursued? Much will deal with the potential seriousness of the problem that has just come to light. Sometimes the incidental finding will follow on from the physical examination ( e.g. hypertension), a simple investigation (e.g. diabetes) or as occurs with increasing frequency, from some form of imaging.
