Overview:

This case explores the potential psychological impact of a burn injury in an adolescent girl aged 13 years.    Its aim is to increase students understanding of what information needs to be gathered when an adolescent presents with an injury in a hospital setting. Assessment questions relating to post traumatic stress, anxiety, family relationships and functioning are also addressed. The case encourages students to take into consideration the developmental stage of an adolescent, and how this can impact on recovery and wellbeing.
